Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has said he is sure he will remain in charge at the Etihad next season.
City ended the campaign without a trophy, finishing second in the Premier League, and there has been speculation around the Chilean's future.
"I've never had any doubt in my mind all season," he told BBC Sport.
"I know what the owners think, I speak with them all the time. They're not owners who think because you do not win the title you must go out."
Sunday's 2-0 win over Southampton on the final day completed a strong end to the season that has seen City win their last six matches in the top flight.
But last season's title winners were down in fourth in early April, after a defeat by Crystal Palace.
"I am not happy with the way we worked the whole year," Pellegrini said. "We lost too many stupid points.
"But I assure you we are going to grow as a club next season. The most important target for us is to recover the title next season, and I believe we are not far away from doing that."
The 61-year-old refused to be drawn on the future of out-of-contract midfielder James Milner, saying: "James will make a decision at the end of the season.
"He is a very important player and he gave us a lot of spirit for the whole season. He must decide his future and what is best for him."
